From June 13th, 2022 to August 19th, 2022 I worked as a Production and development intern for the Motion Picture Group at Lionsgate in their Santa Monica Office. I was selected out of a competitive group of 457 applicants for this position.
I was responsible for handling a variety of administrative and assistant duties to support 4 junior creative executives in the creative workflow of internal projects and submissions.
-This included standard assistance duties such as booking travel, coordinating calendars, scheduling meetings, etc.
I also participated in weekly Weekend Read meetings and provided script coverage (sometimes with 5-hour deadlines to read a script and provide coverage)
Throughout my time at Lionsgate, I was able to complete a database with over 500 names of minority/underrepresented writers, actors, directors, and producers for the team to utilize when sourcing talent.
I also completed two projects. The first project was an original movie pitch in which I had to formulate a professional pitch deck and a 20-minute presentation on my original movie idea. I had to create a mock cast, provide a full plot summary, provide pictures, etc.
My second project was a research project on the effect of the pandemic on Gen Z watches and the movie genres they consume. For my research, I conducted two surveys and referenced scholarly articles. One interesting finding from my research is that due to morbid curiosity, many Gen Z viewers gravitate more toward horror and thriller films than they did pre-pandemic.
